Route runs
past the Horne Lake turnoff and up to about 5 km
beyond the Deep Bay turn-off,
down to the Old Island Hwy and back into Parksville

Cyclists
should have the ability and necessary tools to do minor repairs to their
bikes, if needed

Cyclists
riding this route would be expected to maintain an average speed that
would allow them to complete the ride in 4 – 4 1/2 hrs.[min av22kmh].
Those not able to achieve this and arrive at the Horne Lake Road turnoff
by 10:45 am will be instructed to take the Horne lake turnoff and
complete the 70km event. This procedure is implemented for your safety to
help ensure we can account for all riders on course and everyone
finishes in a timely and safe manner. Remember
the cutoff time is 1 3/4
hrs after event start or 10:45 a.m.!!
All participants MUST
check in with the Registration Desk, upon completion of the ride,
so that the Registrar knows you are back and safe. You will also receive a
free food coupon and other great gifts.
